Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced bridge and culvert rehabilitation and replacement work is expected to begin the week of September 18th. Repair or replacement work includes Bridge C-22 on Clinton Hollow Road (CR 18) over the Little Wappinger Creek in the Town of Clinton and Culvert PV-14 on Sherow Road (CR 73) over the Great Spring Creek in the Town of Pleasant Valley.

Rehabilitation of Bridge C-22 on Clinton Hollow Road in the Town of Clinton

The bridge was originally built in 1938 and is in need of repair due to the deterioration of a retaining wall. Project work includes the replacement of a retaining wall, upgrades to the guide rail, and repairs to the pavement. Work is expected to be complete by late fall.

During the project, motorists will have continued access over the bridge through the use of a one-lane alternating traffic pattern controlled by a temporary traffic signal. Clinton Hollow Road averages approximately 850 vehicles per day.

Replacement of Culvert PV-14 on Sherow Road in the Town of Pleasant Valley

The culvert is in need of replacement due to the deterioration of the steel beams and supporting structure. Project work includes the addition of new guide rail and 4-foot shoulders over the culvert. Work is expected to be complete by late fall.

A portion of Sherow Road will be closed beginning September 25th and will remain closed for the duration of the project. A detour route will be posted. Sherow Road averages approximately 2,800 vehicles per day.
