Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “Our Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronics Recycling events provide an opportunity for residents to dispose of unwanted electronic equipment, unused chemicals and fertilizers, and many other common household items and materials. These collection events are part of the goals set out in our 10-year solid waste management plan, Rethinking Waste, to increase recycling across Dutchess County, reduce our environmental footprint, and create a more sustainable waste system.”
The Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronics Recycling Event provides residents with a safe and responsible way to discard a diverse range of household items that cannot be disposed of through regular recycling or garbage bins. Acceptable items include television sets, computer monitors, telephones, pesticides, pool chemicals, and more. A complete list of acceptable items to bring to this disposal day is included below.
“The Legislature voted to amend the 2016 County Budget to provide funding to ensure the Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronics Recycling events continued and to allow for a second collection event in the fall. I encourage all residents to take advantage of these collection events to safely dispose of and recycle unwanted and unused materials and items. Your contributions will help Dutchess County to become an even greener, cleaner, and healthier community,” said Chairman of the Dutchess County Legislature Dale Borchert.
A second Household Hazardous Waste Disposal & Electronics Recycling Event will be held on Saturday, October 29th. The Dutchess County Division of Solid Waste Management collection events are partially funded by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
