Poughkeepsie… The New York State County Executives Association elected Dutchess County Executive Marcus Molinaro as 2nd Vice President of their statewide group. The county executives convened for their annual business meeting in Albany prior to the annual State of the State Message and release of the Executive 2015-16 State Budget release..
The New York State County Executives’ Association is an affiliate of the New York State Association of Counties (NYSAC). The County Executives’ Association includes the chief elected leaders from the 18 county governments with charter forms of government that include a county executive, plus the mayor of the City of New York. The county executives meet regularly throughout the year to discuss critical issues facing counties in New York. Chief among these issues is the 2015 Legislative Session and the 2015-16 state budget. They also discuss concerns about property taxes, home rule authority, the county cost of Medicaid and Safety Net, shared service and efficiency programs, and vital infrastructure needs
County Executive Molinaro’s election puts him on the executive steering committee of the state-wide group. “I look forward to representing Dutchess County and other counties with executives on issues that impact all of us—upstate and downstate—as work to improve the quality of life in our communities,” said Molinaro.
Molinaro was first elected to be Dutchess County Executive in November 2011. He took office in January 2012. At the age of 36, he was the youngest County Executive in Dutchess County history. Prior to serving as County Executive, Molinaro spent six years representing the 103rd District in the New York State Assembly.
The members of the County Executives Association include the chief elected leaders from Albany, Broome, Chautauqua, Chemung, Dutchess, Erie, Monroe, Montgomery, Nassau, Oneida, Onondaga, Orange, Putnam, Rensselaer, Rockland, Suffolk, Ulster, Westchester, and the City of New York.
The New York State County Executives Association is an affiliate of the New York State Association of Counties, a bipartisan municipal association serving the counties of New York State including the City of New York.
