Poughkeepsie…When the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce hands out the 9th Annual Shaker Awards tonight, honoring the top 40 people under forty years old, two of Dutchess County Government’s own will be among them.  Dutchess County Legislature Majority Leader Angela Flesland and Department of Planning & Development Community Investment Program Specialist Julia Pagones, both 27, are being recognized for their community involvement and leadership.

Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro, a 40 Under 40 Honoree in 2006, offered his congratulations, “Dutchess County Government is fortunate to have these talented and committed women as part of our team.   Angela and Julia are working everyday to make our community a better place for our residents, both in their respective county roles and in their personal lives.   Congratulations to both on this well deserved honor.”

Angela Flesland was elected to the Dutchess County Legislature at age 21.   She currently serves as the Legislature’s Majority Leader.  Since 2009, she has served as the Executive Director of former Governor George Pataki’s not-for-profit Pataki Leadership and Learning Center.

Julia Pagones works for the Dutchess County Department of Planning & Development as Community Investment Program Specialist, where she helps various community and municipal programs positively impact Hudson Valley residents on a daily basis.  She is also a volunteer with the Catharine Street Community Center, Special Olympics and the American Cancer Society and serves on the advisory committee of the Hudson Valley Young Professionals.
