Poughkeepsie…Hundreds of school supply items were donated by Dutchess County Government employees in support of the “Christmas in August” initiative to help students kindergarten through 12th grade head back to school with the supplies they need for a successful school year.
“Dutchess County employees have once again generously responded to a community need and we are thrilled to be able to support the Christmas in August event, helping to ensure students have the necessary supplies to get their school year off to a great start,” said County Executive Molinaro.
"I feel very fortunate to be associated with so many wonderful, caring individuals who serve in Dutchess County Government. Each and every day, county employees are donating their time, talent and resources to help others in our community. I am proud and grateful to be part of such generous group of people," said Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Rob Rolison.
The Christmas in August event takes place Saturday, August 16th from 10 a.m. to noon at the Christ Episcopal Church located at 20 Carroll Street in Poughkeepsie, across from Clinton School. Parents are invited to accompany their children and pick up school supplies for the upcoming year, while supplies last. There is still time to donate school supplies! There will be a collection during the Jazz In The Valley event on Sunday, August 17 at Waryas Park in Poughkeepsie that begins at noon. Attendees are asked to bring any of the following back to school supplies in support of Christmas in August: Filler paper, 1" binders, b/w composition notebooks, 1 subject spiral notebooks, 2 pocket folders, glue sticks, pencils or 24 pack crayons.
