Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Department of Public Works has announced the public parking lot located next to the Dutchess County Office Building on Market Street in Poughkeepsie has been reopened and is available for public use. The parking lot had been closed for three months during the demolition and removal of structures at 28 and 44 Market Street.

Dutchess County Public Works employee Melody Newton also returns to her post at the parking lot entrance to assist customers.    Melody, affectionately known by most as “Mel”, is well known for her huge smile and exuberant greetings to all who pass by. Her enthusiasm was even recognized by Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce in 2011, when she was presented a "Community Ambassador Award" for all she does to make the community more welcoming and inviting.

County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “We are pleased to have the parking lot reopened and available for public use. We are even more pleased to have Melody returned to her post as unofficial “Ambassador” for Market Street.  She has been greatly missed by both visitors and regulars on the Market Street corridor.”
