Poughkeepsie…The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced the Dutchess Rail Trail parking lot at Diddell Road in the Town of Wappinger will be closed on Thursday morning, July 11th for paint striping, weather permitting. The parking lot is expected to be re-opened for public use in the afternoon.

Additionally, striping work will be done on Thursday for two new parking areas on the Dutchess Rail Trail. The first parking lot, with 17 parking spots, is located at the Lake Walton Road crossing in the Town of East Fishkill. The second parking lot is located on Old Manchester Road (next to Quinlan Gas) and will feature 27 parking spots. Both of these parking lots are expected to be open for public use by Friday, July 19th.

A complete list of current Dutchess Rail Trail parking locations is available on the County’s website.

The parking lot projects are part of the work being done for Stage 4 of the Dutchess Rail Trail, which will include the bridge over Rt. 55. Stage 4, as well as the connection to the Walkway Over the Hudson, is currently underway and is expected to be complete by late fall.
