Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Division of Veterans Services will have a special event where veterans can sign up for VA medical benefits and the Dutchess County F.A.V.O.R. card this Friday, July 27th from 10am to 1pm in front of the Dutchess County Office Building at 22 Market Street in the City of Poughkeepsie. The event will feature the VA Hudson Valley Health Care Mobile Clinic vehicle. There will also be a special announcement about expanded discount offerings for the Dutchess County FAVOR card at 11am.

Staff from the VA Hudson Valley Healthcare System will be on hand to enroll eligible veterans for VA Medical benefits and share information about My Healthy Vet.  A VA nurse will be taking blood pressure and the VA Hudson Valley Health Care Mobile Clinic will open for the public to tour.  Copies of Veterans Full Time Active Duty Separation papers and a picture ID will be required to enroll for benefits.

Veterans will also have the opportunity to sign up to receive the Dutchess County FAVOR card,  FAVOR stands for Find and Assist Veterans Of Record, a program offered through the Office of  Dutchess County Clerk Brad Kendall.  The FAVOR card entitles the veterans to discounts at hundreds of local businesses throughout the county.

FAVOR cards are issued to qualified and honorably discharged veterans who served actively in the US military (Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Coast Guard or Merchant Marines) and who were discharged or released under conditions other than dishonorable. Reservists and National Guard also qualify if they were called to active duty (other than for training only) by a federal order and completed the full period for which they were called or ordered to active duty. Full Time Active Duty Separation papers, for example. DD-214, WDO-AGO 53-55, will be necessary to receive the FAVOR card.
