The Hudson Valley Renegades are the best team in the New York-Penn League. Tonight they head into the post season for the first time since 1999, they will play the Brooklyn Cyclones. A loyal Renegades fan, Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro has reached out to Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz for a friendly wager on the matchup between the Hudson Valley Renegades and the Brooklyn Cyclones on the outcome of the Semifinal Championship Series.

If the Hudson Valley Renegades win this playoff series, Borough President Markowitz will send County Executive Molinaro a Juniors Cheesecake, considered to be the “World’s Most Fabulous Cheesecake.”

If the Brooklyn Cyclones win, County Executive Molinaro will send Borough President Markowitz a regal signature box of Dutchess County’s Crown Maple Syrup, quite possibly the “purest maple syrup on earth.”

Borough President Markowitz said, “If he hasn’t already, County Executive Molinaro should definitely sample the world’s best cheesecake from Junior’s—my personal favorite is the devil’s food—but he definitely won’t be getting one from me as a result of this wager. The Cyclones won the season series against the Renegades this year, have been to the playoffs nine times in their twelve-year history, and above all else, they have that ‘Brooklyn swagger.’ There is no doubt that a box of Dutchess County’s Crown Maple Syrup will be arriving at Brooklyn Borough Hall very soon.”

County Executive Molinaro responded, “We’ve been cheering on the ‘Gades all summer long and they’re peaking at just the right time.   The Cyclones may have that ‘Brooklyn swagger,’ but we have the best hitting, pitching, fielding and best record in the league. So, call Junior’s and order me the devil’s food cheesecake” said County Executive Molinaro.

The best-of-three series begins tonight at MCU Park on Coney Island at 7:05p.m.  The Renegades return home to Dutchess County’s Dutchess Stadium on Saturday for Game 2 at 7:05 p.m.     The third game, if necessary, will be also be played at Dutchess Stadium on Sunday starting at 1:05 p.m.

“I encourage everyone to join me at Dutchess Stadium on Saturday to root the Renegades to victory.   With a clash like this, there’s sure to be fireworks!” said County Executive Molinaro.
