Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Division of Veterans Services is relocating to its new location at 85 Civic Center Plaza in the City of Poughkeepsie. The new office will be open starting Wednesday, November 7th in Suite 105 in the Poughkeepsie Journal Building. Veterans Services’ current office location in the County Office Building on Market Street will be closed after 4pm on Friday, November 2nd through Tuesday, November 6th for the move. Office phone and fax numbers will remain unchanged.

Veterans interested in signing up for FAVOR cards can go directly to the County Clerk’s office in the County Office Building during the move.

The move is part of the planned relocation of the Dutchess County Department of Health to the Poughkeepsie Journal building, a move projected to save the County more than $500,000 over the next five years. In 2013, the Division of Veterans Services will be affiliated with the Department of Health as a separate division as part of County Executive Molinaro’s 2013 Tentative Budget proposal.

Veterans’ Services will maintain its unique identity and have self contained office space in the new location. Veterans’ Services Director Nelson Eddy Rivera is looking forward to the move. “The new office will allow us to operate more efficiently, while continuing to provide dedicated service to our veterans and their families,” Mr. Rivera said. The new offices feature a larger reception area to welcome veterans, an enhanced floorplan for greater workflow efficiency as well as easier accessibility for veterans with ample free parking.
