Poughkeepsie, NY…In recognition of September being National Preparedness Month, the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, in partnership with the Town of Dover, will host a free Citizen’s Preparedness Training on Monday, September 23 at the Dover Town Hall, located at 126 East Duncan Hill Road in the town, to provide participants with the tools and resources to better prepare for any type of disaster. The event is open to the public. Registration opens at 11 a.m. and the program begins at 11:30 a.m. View the event flyer.
County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “We may not be able to predict when an emergency might happen, but everyone can—and should—have a plan in place to stay safe until help arrives and recover as quickly as possible afterwards. We host Citizen’s Preparedness Training sessions throughout Dutchess County, teaching families the importance of keeping an emergency kit, practicing a plan, and knowing what to do in an emergency of any kind. I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to brush up on your preparedness skills this month and throughout the year.”
Participants will learn how to respond accordingly in a disaster and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Each family will receive a free Citizen’s Preparedness Response Starter Kit. Dutchess County’s Medical Reserve Corps and the Dutchess County Animal Response Team will be present with more information on how to become involved. For information, visit www.dutchessny.gov.
