Poughkeepsie, NY…The Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response, in partnership with the Town of Wappinger, will host a free Citizen’s Preparedness Training on Thursday, October 24 at the Wappinger Town Hall, located at 20 Middlebush Road in the town, to provide participants with the tools and resources to better prepare for any type of disaster. The event is open to the public. Registration opens at 6 p.m. and the program begins at 6:30 p.m. View the event flyer.

County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “As temperatures continue to drop and the weather cools, I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to brush up on your preparedness skills. Our Citizen’s Preparedness Trainings give families the tools and resources necessary to be prepared in an emergency with a plan to stay safe until help arrives and recover as quickly as possible afterwards.”

Participants will learn how to respond accordingly in a disaster and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Each family will receive a free Citizen’s Preparedness Response Starter Kit. Dutchess County’s Medical Reserve Corps and the Dutchess County Animal Response Team will be present with more information on how to become involved. For information, visit www.dutchessny.gov.
