Poughkeepsie … To honor and show appreciation to veterans, Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Adam Roche, Director the Dutchess County Office of Veterans Affairs, encourage residents to attend the County’s Veterans Day ceremony at the Dutchess County War Memorial on Monday, November 11th at 11 a.m. The Dutchess County War Memorial is located at John K. Rinaldi Memorial Park at the intersection of Raymond Avenue and Main Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie.
County Executive Serino said, “Veterans Day is a day that allows us to honor and appreciate the courageous and selfless actions of our nation's heroes. I thank our local veterans and remain committed to ensuring their needs are addressed here in Dutchess County. Numerous Veterans Day events are taking place throughout the County, and I urge residents to take the time to recognize the men and women who defended our nation to keep us safe.”
The County’s event will gather local veterans from several eras and will include an invocation, benediction and wreath presentation. Alyssa Carrion, a graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point and a former Captain in the U.S. Army, will be the keynote speaker and offer remarks; and the Poughkeepsie High School Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC) program will present the colors.
Local municipalities throughout Dutchess County will also host Veterans Day ceremonies to honor and remember those who sacrificed in defense of our country.
