Published: 5/16/2025

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and Veterans Affairs Director Adam Roche invite residents to attend Dutchess County’s Memorial Day ceremony at the Dutchess County War Memorial on Monday, May 26th at 11 a.m. The Dutchess County War Memorial is located at John K. Rinaldi Memorial Park at the intersection of Raymond Avenue and Main Street in the Town of Poughkeepsie.

Residents, veterans and their families will gather to honor the brave service members who gave their lives in defense of our nation. The remembrance will include remarks from local leaders as well as wreath laying and stone placement ceremonies, presentation of colors by the Poughkeepsie High School JROTC, Pledge of Allegiance by Scout Troop 3055, musical performances, “Taps” and a keynote address by Lieutenant Colonel Beth-Anne Canero, United States Marine Corps, Retired.

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said, “So many brave people from Dutchess County have given their lives serving our country to protect our freedom. We will always remember their sacrifice and take the time to honor them. I encourage everyone to reflect on the meaning of this important day and join us in remembering those who gave their lives for our freedom.”

Memorial Day is a national holiday honoring the men and women who lost their lives while serving in the United States Armed Forces. They are remembered and honored for their patriotism, love of country and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.

County Executive Serino and Director Roche encourage Dutchess County residents to celebrate local veterans by participating in one or more of the numerous Memorial Day events planned across the county.
