Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and the Dutchess County Department of Health (DCDOH) will host a free Community Baby Shower on Tuesday, September 29 from 3 to 7 PM at the Family Partnership Center, 29 North Hamilton St. in Poughkeepsie. Presented in partnership with the Institute for Family Health’s Perinatal and Infant Community Health Collaboratives (PICHC) and Healthy Families Dutchess County programs, as well as the Poughkeepsie Children’s Cabinet, the free public event is designed to celebrate, educate and support expectant and new parents throughout Dutchess County.
County Executive Sue Serino said, “Every family deserves to feel supported, informed and celebrated as they welcome a new baby. Our Community Baby Shower brings together incredible partners and resources to make sure parents have what they need from – trusted guidance to essential items. We’re proud to host an event that helps support Dutchess County families, and we hope so see you there!”
Families attending the Community Baby Shower will receive essential guidance to help them prepare for their new arrival, along with a variety of practical giveaways. Vendors will share evidence‑based educational materials and additional resources related to pregnancy, infant care and family health. Labor doulas, lactation consultants and local healthcare providers will be on site to answer questions and offer individualized support.

DCDOH Commissioner Dr. Livia Santiago‑Rosado said, “Supporting families during pregnancy and early childhood is one of the most important things we can do for the long‑term health of our community. This shower brings together trusted partners, essential resources and evidence‑based guidance in one welcoming space. We are proud to offer families the tools, education and connections they need to feel confident and supported as they begin their parenting journey.”
Guests will enjoy an atmosphere that reflects the joy and celebration of a traditional baby shower. They will have opportunities to take baby‑shower‑style photos; participate in games, such as baby‑ and labor‑related trivia; and connect with community resources including, Healthy Families, PICHC and other local organizations dedicated to supporting families.
DCDOH’s clinic located within the Family Partnership Center will be open to provide childhood vaccinations, giving attendees an opportunity to update their children’s immunizations. Those interested should call the clinic at 845‑486‑2963 in advance to confirm eligibility and ensure staff can prepare the appropriate vaccine.
The event will feature a “shower passport” that encourages guests to visit each table, engage with community partners and learn key information on pregnancy and early parenting. Completing the passport qualifies attendees for raffles featuring themed baskets that highlight important topics, including:
Families who complete the passport will also be eligible to win larger raffle items, such as a brand-new Pack ‘n Play, stroller, Boppy set and baby food blender.

Light snacks and beverages will be provided throughout the event. Spanish‑speaking staff will also be available to provide information and answer questions.
