Poughkeepsie, NY… September is National Preparedness Month and the Dutchess County Department of Emergency Response announces the return of the County’s popular, free Citizens Preparedness Trainings. The first sessions will be held in partnership with the Town and Village of Rhinebeck on Thursday, September 15th at the Rhinebeck Village Hall, located at 76 East Market Street in Rhinebeck. Two sessions will be offered at 2pm and 7pm and will provide participants with the tools and resources necessary to better prepare for any type of disaster. The sessions are open to the public; view the event flyer.

County Executive Marc Molinaro said, “We are pleased to have these valuable trainings return and help Dutchess County residents be more prepared during an emergency and stay safe. We are grateful to our municipal partners for understanding the value of these classes and encourage everyone to attend, whether it’s your first time or you’re looking for a refresher course.”

Participants will learn how to respond accordingly in a disaster and recover as quickly as possible to pre-disaster conditions. Each family will receive a free Citizens Preparedness Response Starter Kit. Dutchess County’s Medical Reserve Corps and the Dutchess County Animal Response Team will be present with more information on how to become involved.

Additional trainings will be scheduled at various locations throughout the County in the coming months. For information, visit www.dutchessny.gov.
