POUGHKEEPSIE, NY – Building on her strong commitment to empowering older adults, Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino and the County's Office for the Aging are thrilled to announce the return of the second annual “Putting Your Skills Back to Work” Older Adults Skills Fair. This dynamic, free event is designed for older adults, ages 55 and older, who are looking to stay active and are interested in meaningful volunteer opportunities or part-time employment. This year’s fair will be held on Thursday, August 13, from 2 to 4 p.m. at John Jay High School’s gymnasium in East Fishkill.
Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said, “Dutchess County’s older adults bring an incredible wealth of knowledge, experience, and energy to our community. Staying engaged—whether through volunteering, part-time work, or simply connecting with others—supports better health, stronger independence, and a renewed sense of purpose. Our Older Adults Skills Fair celebrates that vitality and reinforces our commitment to helping older residents remain active, connected, and confident. Whether you’re interested in sharing your talents through volunteer service or exploring part-time employment, this fair is the perfect place to start, and I hope to see you there!”

Last year’s event was attended by nearly 500 local older adults with more than 35 local organizations and businesses taking part.
