Dutchess County OCIS Commissioner Honored with Lifetime Achievement Award

Poughkeepsie… County Executive Marc Molinaro congratulates Glenn Marchi, PhD., Commissioner of the Dutchess County Office of Central and Information Services (OCIS) on receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award from his alma mater, University at Albany, College of Emergency Preparedness, Homeland Security and Cybersecurity (CEHC). The College honored six alumni, including Dr. Marchi, at its inaugural Alumni Awards Celebration earlier this week.

Dutchess County Executive Marcus J. Molinaro said, “Glenn and the entire team at OCIS has been at the forefront of Dutchess County’s efforts to provide technology that is efficient, secure, and accessible for our departments and residents. Their innovation and leadership in the industry has been nationally recognized several years in a row. Congratulations to Glenn for receiving this much deserved recognition for his career, and lifetime, achievements.”

Dr. Marchi received his PhD in Information Science with a specialization in decision support systems from CEHC in 1999. Since July 2016, Dr. Marchi has served as the Commissioner of OCIS. Over the course of his career, he has served as programmer, systems analyst, certified project management professional (PMP), and has held director-level positions at several private sector corporations. A U.S. Army veteran, Dr. Marchi was a military first responder to the World Trade Center terrorist attack and was later deployed to Iraq where he was awarded the bronze star medal. He currently serves as a Colonel in the New York Guard.

Dutchess County has been continuously recognized on the national level for its technological innovation, earning the number one ranking in the nation, among mid-size county governments, in the Center for Digital Government (CDG) and the National Association of Counties (NACo) annual Digital Counties Survey two years in a row and ranked in the top 10 in the nation for all 19 years the survey has been conducted. Dutchess County has also been recognized for its accessibility and efforts to ensure residents of all abilities can quickly and easily find the programs or services they rely on by the Center for Digital Government.

Dr. Marchi said, “Dutchess County Government continues to set the standard for quality technology and innovation, with our efforts consistently garnering national acclaim. It is my pleasure to share this recognition with the Dutchess County leadership team and friends who have supported and contributed to this milestone. We will continue to provide technology resources that improve services and boost efficiencies to better serve Dutchess County residents.”

Robert Griffin, CEHC founding dean, said, “We have amazing alumni doing some incredible things, and felt it was our duty to showcase the talented and resourceful professionals that emerge from CEHC. It was something we have considered doing for a few years and we hope that it becomes a time-honored tradition for the College.”
