Bridge to be Replaced in Town of North East

Published: 3/9/2026

Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced work will begin on or about Monday, March 16th to replace a bridge on Rudd Pond Road (CR-62) over Webatuck Creek, near Boston Corners Road (CR-63), in the Town of North East. Rudd Pond Road will be closed near the work zone, with a detour posted along Boston Corners Road and State Route 22. View a map of the detour.

The project will include replacing the existing structure with a new, wider bridge that includes a 5-foot shoulder on the south side due to the road’s proximity to the Harlem Valley Rail Trail, and a 2-foot shoulder on the north side. The span will also be raised about one foot to better accommodate the potential for future flooding as part of the County’s ongoing Resilient Ways Forward infrastructure initiative. The project is anticipated to be complete by the end of this summer.

This section of Rudd Pond Road averages approximately 400 vehicles per day.

Motorists are advised to plan for additional time and to exercise extra caution near the construction site and on the detour, obey the posted speed limits, and traffic advisory signs and the directions from flaggers near the work zone to ensure the safety of workers and other motorists.
