Poughkeepsie… The Dutchess County Department of Public Works (DPW) has announced it will be resurfacing 2.5 miles of Slate Quarry Road (CR-19) between Zipfeldburg Road and Centre Road (CR-18) in the Town of Clinton. Work will begin on Monday, November 23rd and is expected to take two days to complete.
The project addresses issues with the existing pavement surface, which has lost some of its friction characteristics, creating safety issues in wet weather. The road will be resurfaced with new, high-friction asphalt to address those issues. Additionally, new high reflectivity signage will be installed to improve driver awareness and safety.
Slate Quarry Road will remain open during the work, with alternate lane closures and flaggers to control traffic through the work zone. Delays should be anticipated, and motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible. If travel through the construction area cannot be avoided, motorists should plan for additional time and exercise extra caution, obey the posted speed limits, traffic advisory signs, and the directions from flaggers in the work zone to ensure the safety of workers and other motorists.
