County Executive Sue Serino’s State of Emergency still in effect, EXTENDED Emergency Order Restricting Travel until 4pm today Dutchess County Government offices closed No Public Transit Service

Poughkeepsie…  With Dutchess County remaining under a Blizzard Warning, including high winds and another 4 to 8 inches forecasted throughout the day, Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino has extended the State of Emergency, including the restriction on non-essential travel in Dutchess County until 4pm, Monday, February 23rd. Dutchess County Government offices are now closed for the day and there will be no Dutchess County Public Transit bus service.

Dutchess County Executive Sue Serino said, “This has been a very dynamic and difficult storm, creating dangerous conditions and challenges for highway crews. For public safety, we are extending the State of Emergency, including restricting all non-essential travel on roadways, until 4pm today. Please stay home and stay safe.” 

The emergency order restricts travel on roadways in Dutchess County until 4pm today except for essential personnel such as medical and health facility personnel; law enforcement and public safety personnel; first responders; utility, maintenance and public works personnel; snow removal, sanding, salting and clearing operations personnel; facility operations persons deemed necessary for plant operations by their employers; and public and government personnel involved in emergency operations.

County Executive Serino and other County agencies and departments including Sheriff’s Office, Emergency Response, Public Works, Community & Family Services continue to monitor the storm to address any issues as needed. 

  • The Dutchess County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) continues to be operational, coordinating response to storm conditions and Dutchess County’s 9-1-1 Communication Center continues to be fully staffed.  
  • Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) is fully staffed and have all-terrain and utility-terrain vehicles ready as necessary. DCSO works collaboratively with the Department of Emergency Response to respond as needed.
  • Dutchess County Public Works Highway Division crews continue to be out addressing roads, with the County’s fleet of more than 50 vehicles and equipment deployed.  
  • Dutchess County Public Transit (DCPT) bus service is suspended for Monday, February 23rd. Updates about bus service for Tuesday, February 24th will be available at dutchessny.gov/publictransit, on the DCPT mobile SPOT app, available on the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
  • Dutchess County Government offices are closed for Monday, February 23rd including Dutchess County Department of Motor Vehicle (DMV) offices.
  • The Office for the Aging’s eight Senior Friendship Centers are closed on Monday, and there will be no Home Delivered Meals deliveries; shelf-stable meals have been delivered to older adults enrolled in the program.

Dutchess County’s CODE BLUE protocol continues to be in effect for anyone who needs shelter when temperatures are 32 degrees or below. Dutchess County Department of Community & Family Services (DCFS) collaborates with community partners to ensure every resident is safe. Anyone who needs emergency shelter should call 2-1-1 to be connected with staff who will assist in getting people to shelter placement.
