Chosen to fill vacancy in District 19
Former North East Town Supervisor and Planning Board Chairman David Sherman was appointed to the Dutchess County Legislature. Sherman was appointed last week during a joint meeting of the North East, Stanford, Milan and Pine Plains town boards. He fills the vacancy left by Gary Cooper, R-Pine Plains, who resigned from the Legislature to accept a position within the Department of Public Works.
Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Robert Rolison, R-Poughkeepsie, welcomed David Sherman to his post in the Legislature. Chairman Rolison stated, “With over a decade of experience in municipal government administration, David will be a valuable asset to the Legislature and his constituents.” Acknowledging this, Sherman was appointed to serve as a member of the Government Services and Administration and Public Works and Capital Projects Committees. In addition, Sherman will act as the legislative liaison to the Agriculture and Farmland Protection and Cornell Cooperative Extension Agriculture Boards.
Sherman stated, “I am honored to have been chosen to represent the people of District 19. I look forward to working with Chairman Rolison and my new colleagues to fight for the needs of northern Dutchess residents.”
