Poughkeepsie… Dutchess County Legislature Chairman Robert Rolison was recently appointed to serve on the Board of Directors of the Purple Heart Hall of Honor, Inc.  The Board supports the mission of the National Purple Heart Hall of Honor which is to commemorate the extraordinary sacrifices of America's servicemen and servicewomen who were killed or wounded in combat. The Hall of Honor collects and preserves the stories of Purple Heart recipients from all branches of service and across generations to ensure that all recipients are represented. The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is located in New Windsor, New York on the original grounds of the New Windsor Cantonment where 138 World War I recipients were awarded the Purple Heart in 1932, the year of the Medal’s founding.

“The National Purple Heart Hall of Honor is the repository for the stories of our valiant troops and stands as a living monument to all of the recipients of the Purple Heart.  Through the efforts of the officers and volunteers, over 180,000 names of the more than 1,700,000 recipients are enrolled in the Hall.   I am honored to be a part of this worthy cause that will ensure that these sacrifices are never forgotten.” stated Rolison.

Executive Director Andrew Komonchak said of Rolison’s appointment, “We are pleased to have Rob joining the Board.  His well-known energy and drive will enhance the Board and bring new supporters and ideas that will be beneficial to our organization and I look forward to working with him as we further enhance and expand the Hall of Honor through sharing the stories of America’s heroes to the public.”
