For repair of sewage disposal systems at existing single family residential homes, you and your contractor will need to review guidance and complete the Wastewater Disposal System Registration and Notice of Intent Packet process. This procedure is used for single family residential homes that need repair or in-kind replacement of their sewage disposal system.
For repairs or replacement systems that will be a change of technology, different location, due a change of use (such as a bedroom count increase), requiring significant fill, or further impacting separation to on and off site wells the above process is not applicable. In these cases, the owner must obtain the services of a NYS licensed Professional Engineer. Registered Architects and Land Surveyors with an N exemption may also design septic systems.
This Wastewater Disposal System Registration and Notice of Intent process occurs in two steps.
