The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a serious two-vehicle crash involving a motorcycle, which occurred at the intersection of State Route 44 and Kennels Road in the Town of Washington at approximately 1:10 pm on 9/10/26.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Route 44 and approaching a delivery truck traveling in the same direction. The truck starts to make a left turn onto Kennels Road, at which time it is struck by the motorcycle. The motorcycle operator is then ejected and strikes a nearby utility pole, resulting in serious injuries. The motorcycle operator was initially transported to Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital before ultimately being transferred to Westchester Medical Center, and the truck operator was uninjured.

The investigation is being conducted by the Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit, and anyone who may have information on the crash is asked to contact Detective Kurt Twaddell at 845-486-3828 or ktwaddell@dutchessny.gov. Information can also be provided via the Sheriff’s Office’s tipline at 845-605-CLUE (2583) or dcsotips@gmail.com, and all information will be kept confidential.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, Millbrook Fire Department, and Empress EMS. The investigation is continuing and more information may be released at a later time as it becomes available.
