The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force reports the arrest of Jason Cabone age 38, following an investigation into the distribution of narcotics and dangerous drugs in the Town of Poughkeepsie area.

Numerous residents residing in the Southgate Spackenkill area of the Town of Poughkeepsie reported drug activity in their neighborhood prompting a response from the Drug Task Force.   Drug Task Force Agents identified the defendant as the alleged narcotic and dangerous drug dealer and began purchasing narcotics from him in the area and surrounding areas.  This led to obtaining a search warrant for the defendant and his residence.

On 05/14/2026 members in coordination with the Poughkeepsie Joint SWAT team, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit and members of the Town of Poughkeepsie Police and Dutchess County Sherriff’s Office Patrol executed the search warrant at 41 Southgate Drive in the Town of Poughkeepsie.   As a result, the defendant was taken into custody.  Drug Task Force Agents seized evidence related to the sale and distribution of narcotics and dangerous drugs at this time.

Jason Cabone was charged with (4) counts of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree and later arraigned in the Town of Poughkeepsie Justice Court.   The defendant was remanded to the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center, formerly known as the Dutchess County Jail. *Multiple charges are pending against the defendant related to the possession and sale of narcotics.

District Attorney Anthony P. Parisi –

“Drug trafficking operations do not just poison individuals, they erode the sense of safety and stability that every neighborhood deserves.  This investigation is another example of what can be accomplished when community members speak up and law enforcement acts swiftly and strategically in response. I want to commend the members of the Dutchess County Drug Task Force, the Poughkeepsie Joint SWAT Team, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department, and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division for their coordinated and professional efforts throughout this investigation. The distribution of dangerous narcotics in our communities will not be tolerated, and we will continue to pursue those who profit from addiction with determination and resolve.”

As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely accusations, and those named are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
