Drug Task Force – You Call, We Haul. 5 in Custody After Raid

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task and the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit recently received information that a significant amount of drug activity and drug sales were occurring at a residence on North White Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.  In addition, community members contacted the Drug Task Force confidential tip-line advising they feared for their safety due to the numerous narcotic and dangerous drug dealers operating out of this residence on a daily basis.  

As a result, the Drug Task force began to purchase narcotics from Jeremyah Newton, age 18, at this residence and at other locations nearby.  Acting quickly the Drug Task Force in conjunction with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit (SWAT) and the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit (CSU) executed a search warrant at the residence on 4/3/2025.  During the raid Drug Task Force Agents seized narcotics packaged for sale, scales, packaging and U.S. currency.  

The following suspects were arrested and arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court on the following charges:

Jeremyah NewtonJeremyah Newton, Age 18 

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, (weight), a class B Felony 
(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, intent to sell, a class B Felony.
(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 4th Degree, a class C Felony.
Remanded to DCJ with bail set at 25k cash, 50k bond, 240k partially secured bond. *Multiple additional charges are pending against Mr. Newton.

Jaishaun Watterson SuarezJaishaun Watterson-Suarez, Age 20

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, (weight), a class B Felony 
(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, intent to sell, a class B Felony.
Remanded to DCJ without bail on an unrelated case, nominal bail of $1 set on the drug charges. 

Jabari GordonJabari Gordon, Age 26

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, (weight), a class B Felony 
(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, intent to sell, a class B Felony.
Remanded to DCJ with bail set at 25k cash, 50k bond, 240k partially secured bond 

Nicholas BrownNicholas Brown, Age 28

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, (weight), a class B Felony 
(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, intent to sell, a class B Felony.
Brown was also wanted by the City of Poughkeepsie Police on misdemeanor charges.  Brown was released after arraignment as required by New York State law.

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, intent to sell, a class B Felony.
Remanded to DCJ with bail set at 25k cash, 50k bond, 240k partially secured bond at 10%.  

The Drug Task Force will continue to react rapidly to community member’s pleas for help when drug dealers infiltrate their neighborhoods to sell narcotics.  The sale of narcotics and dangerous drugs fuels violent crime and the arrests during this investigation is a step in the right direction to keep the City of Poughkeepsie and Dutchess County safer.  

The Drug Task Force was assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau, City of Poughkeepsie Police, the Town of Hyde Park Police, and the New York State Police with the execution of the search warrant and arrests.
