The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has been investigating the transportation and sale of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs being brought into Dutchess County from Newburgh. During this ongoing investigation a drug dealer was identified as Antwan J. Wakely Jr, age 31, who sold fentanyl and other dangerous drugs to Drug Task Force Agents after he transported them from the Newburgh area into Dutchess County.
On 08/22/24 Drug Task Force Agents located Mr. Wakely operating his vehicle in the City of Poughkeepsie. Drug Task Force Agents with the assistance of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit and members of the City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit took Mr. Wakely into custody without incident. Mr. Wakely was found to be in possession of a large quantity of fentanyl and cocaine which was packaged and ready for sale. Mr. Wakely was charged with the following offenses:
*Several other charges are pending related to the sale of narcotics to Drug Task Force Agents.
Mr. Wakely is being held in Poughkeepsie at the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office pending his arraignment later this date.
The public is urged to contact the Drug Task Force with any information regarding the sale narcotics and dangerous drugs in Dutchess County. The Drug Task Force is making it a priority to keep dangerous drugs like Fentanyl and Cocaine out of Dutchess County.
