Drug Task Force Captures Two Fentanyl Dealers in the Poughkeepsie Area On The Same Day

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force reports the arrest of Tyrese Elting, age 24, from the Town of Poughkeepsie, for one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B Felony. The arrest was made in the early morning on 11/14/23 in the Town of Poughkeepsie with the assistance of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force also reports the arrest of Brandon Mima, from the City of Poughkeepsie, age 20, for one count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B Felony, and one count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th degree, a class D Felony. The arrest was made by Drug Task Force Agents in the evening of 11/14/23 with the assistance of the CPPD Neighborhood Recovery Unit and patrol division. Mr. Mima is currently under the supervision of the Dutchess County Probation Department on an unrelated case.

Both arrests are the result of separate investigations led by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force with the assistance of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department that started earlier this year regarding Fentanyl and Crack Cocaine sales in the City and Town of Poughkeepsie. Both Subjects were arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and released to reappear on a future date due to the current narcotics charges being non-qualifying offenses for a judge to consider bail under current NYS law.

The Dutchess County Drug Task Force pursues drug dealers who sell poison in our communities to prevent senseless overdose deaths. Fentanyl is the leading cause of overdoses in Dutchess County and Drug Task Force agents will continue to hold dealers accountable.
