The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has been working on an investigation regarding drug dealers operating out of a residence on Violet Ave. in the Town of Hyde Park. This investigation was initiated after the Drug Task Force, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office and the Town of Hyde Park Police received numerous complaints regarding drug activity in and around this residence.
Drug Task Force Agents were able to purchase fentanyl from Louis J. Nameth, a 54 year old male and purchase cocaine from Joseph A. Adams, a 42 year old male at that residence. As a result of a lengthy investigation by the Drug Task Force Agents obtained a search warrant for the residence and for Mr. Nameth and Mr. Adams. On 09/12/24 Drug Task Force Agents in conjunction with the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit executed the warrant without incident. Mr. Adams was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a loaded semi-automatic handgun. Mr. Nameth was also taken into custody at the scene. The following initial charges have been filed by the Drug Task Force:
Joseph A. Adams – (1) Count of a Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd degree, a class C Violent Felony and (1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance with intent to sell 3rd degree, a class B Felony. Mr. Adams was arraigned in the Town of Hyde Park Justice Court and remanded to DCJ with no bail on these charges. Mr. Adams was also found to have warrant out of the Town of Hyde Park Court for (1) count of Failure to Register or Verify as a Sex Offender, a class E Felony. The Town of Hyde Park Justice Court set bail on this charge at $1.00.
Louis J. Nameth – (1) Count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a class B Felony. Mr. Nameth was arraigned in the Town of Hyde Park Justice Court and remanded to DCJ with no bail on this charge.

The Drug Task Force would like to thank the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, Hyde Park Police Department and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department for their assistance with both the investigation, execution of the search warrant and arrests of both subjects named in this release.
