The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force reports an investigation into the sale of cocaine which also contained Fentanyl in the Town of East Fishkill.
Drug Task Force Agents initiated an investigation after East Fishkill Police Department requested assistance with a drug investigation stemming from a fatal auto accident that occurred on 09/12/2024. The driver and deceased party in that accident was found to be in possession of a white powder substance believed to be narcotics. DTF Agents field tested the substance determined to be both cocaine and fentanyl mixed together.
A subsequent investigation by Agents determined that the person who sold the cocaine mixed with fentanyl was Joseph M. Kundrat, age 32. Agents arrested Mr. Kundrat on 09/30/2024 after he turned himself into the Town of East Fishkill Police Department.
Mr. Kundrat was charged with the following:
(1) Count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree a Class B Felony.
Mr. Kundrat was later arraigned in the Town of East Fishkill Justice Court and released as required by New York State Law. The accident investigation remains under investigation by the Town of East Fishkill Police Department and more charges related to this case against Mr. Kundrat may be pending.
The Dutchess County Drug Task Force was assisted by the District Attorney’s Office and the Town of East Fishkill Police Department with this investigation.
The Drug Task Force continues to warn members of the community that cocaine and other drugs are often contaminated or mixed with fentanyl and have been the source of numerous overdose deaths over the past several years in Dutchess County.
