The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force received reports of narcotic and dangerous drug dealing In the area of South Cherry Street on the south side of Poughkeepsie.
Drug Task Force Agents identified Bernard Diggs, a new City of Poughkeepsie resident, as a narcotic and dangerous drug dealer operating in that area. Drug Task Force Agents were able to make multiple purchases of narcotics from Mr. Diggs over the course of this ongoing investigation.
In the late afternoon of 12/17/24 Drug Task Force Agents located Mr. Diggs in the area of Cherry Street while he was in the process of conducting a hand-to-hand exchange of narcotics with an unidentified female. Drug Task Agents approached and arrested Mr. Diggs related to the ongoing investigation. At the time of his arrest Mr. Diggs was found to be in possession of Fentanyl packaged for sale.
Mr. Diggs was charged with the following offenses:
(1) Count of Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, a class B Felony.
(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd degree, intent to sell, a class B Felony.
Mr. Diggs was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to DCJ on 50k Cash Bail/150K Partially Secured Bond/300k Secured Bond.
*Additional charges are pending against Mr. Diggs as a result of this investigation.
The Drug Task Force continues to identify, investigate, and arrest those individuals who sell narcotics and dangerous drugs in our communities.
