Drug Task Force - Raid Results in Seizure of Alleged Dealer and Narcotics

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has announced the successful execution of a search warrant at 40 South Hamilton Street in the City of Poughkeepsie following a narcotics investigation.

Agents began the investigation after developing intelligence about a suspected dealer selling narcotics and dangerous drugs out of an apartment located at 40 South Hamilton Street.   Drug Task Force Agents identified Leon V. Allen, age 39, as the individual allegedly distributing narcotics in the City. Over the course of the investigation, Agents conducted purchases of narcotics from Allen, which ultimately led to the securing of a search warrant for multiple apartments within 40 South Hamilton Street believed to be utilized for the storage, concealment and distribution of narcotics and dangerous drugs.  

On December 10, 2025, Drug Task Force Agents along with members of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit (SWAT) and the Poughkeepsie SWAT team executed the search warrant at 40 South Hamilton Street in the City of Poughkeepsie.   During the execution of this warrant large quantities of cocaine, drug packaging materials, U.S. currency, digital scales and other items associated with the sale and distribution of narcotics were seized.   

Leon V. Allen was charged with the following:

• 1 Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 2nd  Degree, a class A-II Felony.
• 1 Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree (intent to sell), a class B Felony.

Allen was later arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to DCJ with no bail.  There are multiple sales charges pending against Allen related to this case by the Drug Task Force.

This investigation and enforcement action were made possible through close collaboration between the Drug Task Force and the NYSP Community Stabilization Unit, City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureaus, Town of Poughkeepsie and City Police Departments, City of Beacon Police Department, Town of Hyde Park Police Department, Town of East Fishkill Police Department, and the Town of Fishkill Police Department.
