The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has been conducting ongoing investigations into narcotic and dangerous drug sales in the Poughkeepsie and surrounding areas.
During the course of this investigation, Drug Task Force Agents began purchasing fentanyl and cocaine at various locations in Dutchess County from Joseph A. Adams, age 42. As a result of this investigation, Drug Task Force Agents obtained a search warrant for a room at the Best Western Inn at the Falls in the Town of Lagrange. In the early morning hours of 03/12/2025 Drug Task Force Agents assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit (SWAT) and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division executed a search warrant at that location and took Mr. Adams into custody without incident. Mr. Adams was in possession of a large amount of U.S. currency and fentanyl packaged for sale at the time of his arrest.
Joseph A. Adams
(1) Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree with intent to sell, a class B Felony.
(2) Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, a class B Felony.
Mr. Adams was later arraigned in the Town of Lagrange Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail with no bail.
The Drug Task Force investigates narcotic and dangerous drug dealers throughout Dutchess County to prevent violent crime and overdose deaths.
As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely an accusation and those individuals named in this release are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
