The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force continues to investigate the sale of narcotics and dangerous drugs in Dutchess County.  The City of Poughkeepsie community has been contacting the Drug Task Force for several months regarding drug sales on S. Clinton Street.  

During the course of this investigation Drug Task Force Agents began purchasing fentanyl out of an apartment off South Clinton Street where multiple suspects were selling narcotics.

On 02/13/2025 Drug Task Force Agents obtained a search warrant for the apartment and executed a raid in the early evening hours with the assistance of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Service Unit (SWAT), the City of Poughkeepsie Police and Neighborhood Recovery Unit, and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.

Upon executing the warrant Drug Task Force Agents arrested Kiahron Thompson, age 20, and seized a quantity of fentanyl, Methamphetamine, U.S. currency, packaging and scales from the apartment.  

Thompson was charged with the following:

(1)    Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, with intent to sell, a class B Felony.

Thompson was arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie court and released with order to appear on a future date as required by current New York State law.  

The Drug Task Force will continue to focus significant attention on this area an others where community members seek assistance with removing dangerous drug dealers.

As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely an accusation and those individuals named in this release are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
