Drug Task Force Takes Down South Side Fentanyl and Meth Dealer Armed with A Loaded Handgun

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has been investigating the sale of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs in an area of Poughkeepsie known as the “South Side”, specifically the sale of Fentanyl, Cocaine, and Methamphetamine (Crystal Meth). Drug Task Force Agents identified the dangerous drug dealer as Haitham A. Dasan, age 48. Drug Task Force Agents began purchasing narcotics from Mr. Dasan when Agents learned he was armed with a handgun.

On 11/07/2024 at or about 12:00 pm Drug Task Force Agents located Mr. Dasan in the area of Hooker Ave. Shortly after he was located Drug Task Force Agents took him into custody where he found to be in possession of a large quantity of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Cocaine along with a loaded .32 caliber handgun.

Mr. Dasan was transported to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office where he was charged with the following:

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of Controlled Substance 3rd Degree with the intent to sell (narcotic drug), a class B felony.

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree with the intent to sell (Methamphetamine), a class B, felony.

(1) Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree, a Class B Felony

(1) Count of Criminal Possession of Weapon 2nd Degree, a Class C Violent Felony.

Mr. Dasan was later arraigned in the City of Poughkeepsie Court and remanded to DCJ without bail. The Drug Task Force was assisted by the City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit with this investigation.

The Drug Task Force will rapidly respond to reports of Narcotic and Dangerous Drug Dealers walking our streets armed with handguns. The public is urged to contact the Drug Task Force with any information regarding the sale or manufacturing of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs as well as those individuals armed with illegal firearms. Keeping Dutchess County safe is our number one priority.
