Drug Task Force –Targeted Drug Raids At City Apartment Complex Net Four Dealers, Loaded Handgun, Fentanyl And Cocaine

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has arrested four individuals connected to a narcotic and dangerous drug distribution network within the Poughkeepsie Housing Authority complex at Hudson Garden Apartments.   This successful investigation is a major disruption to the availability of dangerous drug and narcotics which has fueled violent crime in Dutchess County. 

The investigation began after Drug Task Force Agents began conducting purchases of large quantities of narcotics from individuals residing in the Poughkeepsie Housing Authority.  Over the course of this investigation Drug Task Force Agents purchased directly from two individuals identified as Hudhayfah Abdullahi, age 24 and Adrain King, age 29.   As a result of the ongoing investigation, Drug Task Force Agents secured a search warrant for two separate apartments within the Poughkeepsie Housing Authority Hudson Garden Apartments.  

On 07/09/2025 in the early morning hours members of the Drug Task Force, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit (SWAT),  Westchester County Police Special Response Team (SWAT) and the NYSP Community Stabilization Unit executed both search warrants simultaneously at the Hudson Garden Apartments resulting in the arrest of four individuals, the seizure of crack cocaine and fentanyl, packaging and scales related to the distribution of narcotics and a loaded 9mm handgun with an extended magazine. 

The following subjects have been charged with following: 

 

Eugene L. Cummings III DOB 3/28/1990 - Charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd (loaded firearm), a class C Violent Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (weight) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell) both class B Felonies.   Cummings was later remanded to the custody of the Dutchess County Jail by the City of Poughkeepsie Court.

Hudhayfah Abdullahi DOB 03/13/2001 - Charged with Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 1st degree, a class A-1 Felony.  Abdullahi was later remanded to the custody of the Dutchess County Jail by the City of Poughkeepsie Court.  *Additional charges are pending related to this investigation.

Adrain King DOB 07/20/1995 - Charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (weight) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell) both class B Felonies.  King was later released by the City of Poughkeepsie Court as required by New York State law.

Marvin Lunsford DOB 01/31/1999 - Charged with Criminal Possession of a Firearm, a class E Felony, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (weight) and Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd degree (intent to sell) both class B Felonies.  Lunesford was later released by the City of Poughkeepsie Court as required by New York State law.

The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force aggressively and rapidly investigate dangerous drug and narcotic dealers to prevent violent crime.  The Drug Task Force was assisted by the Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Dangerous Drugs and Violent Crime Unit, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Bureau, the New York State Police Community Stabilization Unit, the Hyde Park Police Department, the City of Beacon Police Department, the Town of East Fishkill Police Department, the Town of Fishkill Police Department, NYS Department of Corrections and Community Supervision and the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department during this investigation.
