Fentanyl Dealer Apprehended by the Dutchess County Drug Task Force

On 12/09/2022 Task Force Agents executed a search warrant at Jamie Velie’s residence on Andrea Court in the Town of Hyde Park after an ongoing narcotics investigation was conducted into counterfeit 30mg Oxycodone prescription pills with the imprint M-30 being sold in the Dutchess County area. Jamie H. Velie was taken into custody at this time by Task Force Agents. Jamie H. Velie was later released with an appearance ticket pursuant to Judge Joseph Petito and ordered to appear in court on 12/22/2022.

Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is similar to morphine but is 50 to 100 times more potent. According to the Federal Drug Enforcement Administration, as little as two milligrams of fentanyl can be lethal. According to the CDC, 107,622 Americans died of drug overdoses in 2021, with 66 percent of those deaths related to synthetic opioids like Fentanyl. In Dutchess County, the percentage of overdose related deaths involving Fentanyl is significantly higher.
