The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Kieran T. Maddock, age 41 of Fishkill, on 3/18/25 as the result of an alleged “swatting” incident which occurred earlier that morning.

“Swatting” is the act of making a prank call to emergency services in an attempt to bring about the dispatch of a large number of armed police officers to a particular address.

Just after 6 am on 3/18/25 the Sheriff’s Office and Town of East Fishkill Police responded to a residence in East Fishkill for a report of several shots fired. Upon arrival it was discovered that there was no emergency and the call appeared to be a prank. After further investigation by Sheriff’s Office Detectives Mr. Maddock was taken into custody later that day, and is accused of making the false report that led to the needless police response.

At this time Mr. Maddock has been charged with Falsely Reporting an Incident in the 2nd degree, which is a felony. After being processed he was arraigned before the Town of East Fishkill Court and released to reappear on 4/2/25 at 5 pm.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the Town of East Fishkill Police. As with any criminal case the charge described above is merely an accusation, and Mr. Maddock is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
