The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Robert Ruiz, age 47 of Poughkeepsie, in connection with an investigation at the Dutchess County Justice and Transition Center. Mr. Ruiz was incarcerated at the time of the incident and arrest, and remains there at the time of this writing.
Mr. Ruiz is accused violating an order or protection by contacting a protected party. He was arrested on 6/6/24 and has been charged with aggravated family offense (felony) and criminal contempt 2nd degree (misd), and was scheduled to appear before the City of Poughkeepsie Court for arraignment on 6/10/24.
As with any criminal case the charges described above are merely accusations, and Mr. Ruiz is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
