The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, in conjunction with the Child Advocacy Center (CAC), reports the arrest of Crystal Whyble (age 28 of LaGrange) stemming from the investigation into an injured child.

On 7/26/20 the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau and CAC began an investigation into a report of an injured child in the Town of LaGrange. Ms. Whyble was subsequently arrested on 10/6/20 in connection with that investigation, and at this time she is accused of striking the child numerous times as well as verbally abusing them. No further information about the victim or circumstances will be released at this time in order to protect the child’s privacy. At this time the Sheriff’s Office does not believe that there is any danger to public safety.

At this time Ms. Whyble has been charged with Assault 2nd degree (Felony) and Endangering the Welfare of a Child (Misd). After being processed she was arraigned before the Town of LaGrange Court, released on her own recognizance, and is due to reappear on 11/10/20 at 5 pm.

As with any criminal case the charges described above are merely accusations, and Ms. Whyble is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The investigation is continuing by Sheriff’s Office Detectives and CAC Investigators, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
