The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the investigation into a two-car fatal crash which occurred on South Amenia Rd in the Town of Amenia at approximately 4:50 pm on 6/8/26.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 1998 Porsche Carrera operated by Scott Anderson (age 54 of Amenia) was traveling eastbound on So. Amenia Rd near Benson Rd when the operator lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle then entered the opposing lane of travel, where it was struck by a westbound 2020 Honda Pilot. Mr. Anderson was pronounced dead at the scene, and the operator of the Honda was transported to Vassar Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
At this time the primary factor in the crash appears to be unsafe speed on the part of the Porsche, and no charges have been filed. Anyone who may have witnessed the crash or events leading up to it is urged to contact Detective Sansoni at 845-867-5647 or ssansoni@dutchessny.gov. The Sheriff’s Office can also be contacted via the tipline at 845-605-2583 or dcsotips@gmail.com, and all information will be kept confidential.
The Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Dutchess County Medical Examiner, Dutchess County Department of Public Works, and the Wassaic Fire Department. The investigation is continuing by the Sheriff’s Office’s Detective Bureau and Crash Investigation Unit, and more information may be released as it becomes available.
