The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force has been working an investigation into the sale of Cocaine and other dangerous drugs in the City of Poughkeepsie. Drug Task Force Agents purchased dangerous drugs from Leon E. Scott, age 54, multiple times in the City of Poughkeepsie during the course of this investigation.
The investigation by the Drug Task Force led to obtaining a search warrant for Scott and a residence on Corlies Ave in the City of Poughkeepsie. On 08/1/24 Drug Task Force Agents and the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit located Scott on Winnikee Ave in the City of Poughkeepsie and took him into custody without incident. The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Emergency Services Unit with Drug Task Force Agents then responded to a residence on Corlies Ave and executed a search warrant. As a result of this investigation Scott was charged with the following:
Criminal Sale of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, a class B Felony. Multiple additional charges related to this investigation are pending.
Scott was later transported to the Poughkeepsie City Court where he was remanded into the custody of the Dutchess County Jail with no bail.
The Drug Task Force was assisted in the execution of the search warrant by members of the City of Poughkeepsie Neighborhood Recovery Unit.
The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force warns the public that dangerous drugs like cocaine, which often contains fentanyl, are the leading cause of overdose deaths in Dutchess County.
