Pleasant Valley, NY – The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is issuing a traffic advisory for the Town of Pleasant Valley effective Saturday evening, December 4, 2021 for the Pleasant Valley Festival of Lights Parade.
Starting at approximately 5:45pm, North Avenue (CR-72) will be closed between Martin Road and Sherow Road (CR-73) for parade participant line-up. Northbound traffic will be diverted over Martin Road and southbound traffic will be diverted over Sherow Road. At approximately 6:35pm, Route 44 / Main Street will be closed between South Avenue (CR-47) and Wilber Road. Traffic traveling westbound on Route 44 will be diverted over South Avenue. Traffic traveling eastbound on Route 44 will be turned around at Wilber Road. Quaker Hill Road will be completely closed, and West Road (CR-71) will be closed at the intersection with Route 44 – Main Street.
The Festival of Lights Parade will start at 6:45pm. Parade participants will travel south on North Avenue; left onto Quaker Hill Road; right onto Route 44 – Main Street and end at the Pleasant Valley Town Hall in Cady Field. It is anticipated that the road closures will last for about one hour, until the completion of the parade. It should also be noted that parade floats will not be permitted into Cady Field.
Motorists not attending or participating in the parade are encouraged to avoid these areas and seek alternate routes during the event. If traveling in the area, motorists are urged to use extreme caution and be aware of pedestrians. Business patrons should also understand that once the parade starts, vehicular traffic will be restricted, and travel will be delayed.
