The Dutchess County District Attorney’s Office Drug Task Force began an investigation after information was obtained from the community that there was significant drug activity in the area of Cooper Road in the Town of Northeast. Drug Task Force Agents provided intelligence to the Dutchess Sheriff’s Office Patrol Bureau regarding a specific area on Cooper Road and requested traffic enforcement in that area and surrounding areas to identify the person or persons involved.
On May 4, 2025 Deputy Sheriff Dylan Merritt conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle for minor traffic infractions. While conducting an investigation Michael Jarvis age 49 of Cooper Road in the Town of Northeast was found to be in possession of more than 150 bags of fentanyl packaged for sale as well as over an ounce of crack cocaine packaged and ready for sale. Drug Task Force Agents responded to the scene to assist in the investigation at this time.
Mr. Jarvis was charged with the following offenses related to this investigation:
(2) Counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, intent to sell, a class B Felony.
(1) Count of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, (weight), a class B Felony.
Mr. Jarvis was arraigned in the Town of Northeast Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail.
The Drug Task Force continues to work to prevent violent crime which is fueled by the sale of narcotics and dangerous drugs in Dutchess County. When the community provides credible information on narcotic and dangerous drug activity in their neighborhoods the Drug Task Force will react quickly.
The Drug Task Force was assisted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Road Patrol Bureau during this investigation.
