Two Charged with Felony Driving While Intoxicated in Unrelated Incidents

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Christopher J. Duquette (age 66 of Hyde Park) and Nelson Acevedo (age 53 of Beekman) in connection with two separate incidents on 6/30/24

At approximately 8:50 on 6/30/24 Deputies responded to Route 9 near St. Andrews Road for a one-car crash. Mr. Duquette was identified as the operator of the vehicle, and after further interview and investigation he was taken into custody at the scene for driving while impaired by drugs. It was later discovered that Mr. Duquette has a previous conviction for the same offense within the last 10 years, which elevates the current charge to a felony. Mr. Duquette has been charged with felony driving while ability impaired by drugs, and after being processed he was released on an appearance ticket returnable to the Town of Hyde Park Court on 7/23/24. 

At approximately 9:45 pm on 6/30/24 Deputies stopped a vehicle on Beekman Road in Beekman for traffic offenses, at which time the operator was identified as Mr. Acevedo. After further interview and investigation Mr. Acevedo was taken into custody at the scene for driving while intoxicated, at which time it was discovered that he has a previous conviction for the same offense within the last 10 years. Mr. Acevedo has been charged with felony driving while intoxicated and various traffic infractions, and after being processed was released on appearance tickets returnable to the Town of Beekman Court on 7/25/24.  

As with all criminal cases the charges described above are merely accusations and both defendants are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
