The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an officer involved shooting in the Village of Wappingers Falls during the overnight hours of June 27, 2026. The incident occurred in the area of East Main Street and Market Street.
There is no active threat in the area and this remains an active investigation. Pursuant to any officer involved shooting in the State of New York, the investigation is currently being led by the New York State Attorney General’s Office. Any immediate press related matters should be directed to their office and more information may be released when it becomes available.
The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the New York State Police, the Village of Wappingers Falls Police Department, the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the New York State Attorney General’s Office.
