The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Everet Burnham, age 34 of Brooklyn NY, for attempted murder and reckless endangerment stemming from the investigation into an incident on 8/6/13 in the Town of Pine Plains.
On 8/6/13 at approximately 10 pm Sheriff’s Deputies responded to a residence in Pine Plains for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival it was discovered that several gunshots had struck the residence after being fired at a person, however no one was struck by the shots or injured. The suspect had fled the scene prior to police arrival, however a description of the suspect and car was given to Deputies. At that time the Sheriff’s Office Detective Division became involved in the investigation, and through further investigation was able to identify Mr. Burnham as a suspect. On 8/9/13 Mr. Burnham was located and taken into custody in Brooklyn NY with the assistance of the NY-NJ HIDTA Regional Fugitive Task Force, and was transported to Dutchess County for processing and arraignment.
At this time Mr. Burnham has been charged with attempted murder in the 2nd degree (Class B Felony) and reckless endangerment 1st degree (Class D Felony). After being processed he was arraigned at the Town of Pine Plains Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $50,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. Specific details on this case will not be released at this time in order to not compromise ongoing court proceedings, however further information may be released at a later time. As with any criminal case, the charges described above are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
