Red Hook Man Charged in Burglary of Deli

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Tyler Hapeman, age 28 of Red Hook, in connection with a burglary that was committed at Griff’s Deli in the Village of Red Hook during the early morning hours of 11/5/13.

Mr. Hapeman is accused of forcing entry into the deli through a side door, at which time he entered and stole the tip jar and its $45 contents. Mr. Hapeman was arrested on 11/14/13 and charged with burglary 3rd degree (Class D Felony) and petit larceny (Class A Misd), and after being processed he was released with orders to appear before the Village of Red Hook Court on 11/20/13 at 4 pm.

The investigation and arrest were conducted by the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Detective Division, with the assistance of the Village of Red Hook Police and the New York State Police. As in any criminal case the charges described above are merely accusations, and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
