The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Ronald Duntz, age 30 of Germantown NY, in connection with a strong arm robbery that occurred in the parking lot of the CVS in the Village of Red Hook.

Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the above location on 6/11/13 at approximately 6:15 pm in response to a Dutchess County 911 call for a possible robbery. Upon arrival it was discovered that a woman’s purse had been stolen from her in the parking lot by a male suspect, who had since fled the scene. The suspect, later identified as Mr. Duntz, had allegedly grabbed the victim’s purse and struggled with her before fleeing. The victim fell to the ground during the struggle, suffered non-life threatening injuries in the form of abrasions and back pain, and was treated & released at the scene by EMS. Witnesses to the incident provided a description of the suspect and vehicle used to flee the scene, and after further investigation by Sheriff’s Office Detectives the suspect was identified as Mr. Duntz and he was arrested during the evening hours of 6/13/13. The purse was recovered at the scene after being dropped by the suspect.

At this time Mr. Duntz has been charged with robbery in the 2nd degree (Class C Felony), and after being arraigned at the Town of Milan Court he was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. The Sheriff’s Office was assisted in the investigation by the State Police; the investigation is continuing and more charges are possible at a later time. As in all criminal cases, the charges described here are merely accusations and the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
